Many fans, pundits and other voices have grumbled and moaned about English Premier League club Arsenal and their summer transfer window movement, or lack thereof at least as far as new arrivals go.

So far this summer 17 players have either been sold, released or sent on loan while only one new signing has been brought to the club in the form of 20-year-old striker Yaya Sanogo from French side Auxerre.

In the face of all the negativity of those that would be calling for their manager of 17 years imminent sacking, Arsene Wenger has stood defiant in the face of all those that criticize his efforts this summer.

The manager himself has even gone so far in his comments to Arsenal.com this week as to claim that the transfer window should close when the season starts as opposed to allowing it to go on until the beginning of September:

“It's hard but I can understand the impatience [for new signings].

I've said many times that the transfer window should be over when the season starts as things usually happen in the last 10 days.

We are not there yet but a lot will happen in the next 10 days."

In what was a massive boost for the manager and his club, his largely unchanged group of players from last season traveled to Turkey for their opening away leg of their UEFA Champions League Qualification campaign yesterday evening and came away 0-3 winners in Istanbul.

It was a much needed victory after their shocking 1-3 loss to Aston Villa at home over the weekend, and they will look to bounce even further back against Fulham in Saturday morning’s early kickoff.

The win also is likely to see Wenger use it as more reason as to why he has not overspent this summer to bring in players outside of what he already has at his disposal.
