The last time these two club's faced off then manager Steve Clark and the Baggies looked only a few minutes from completing what many have found impossible so far since, "he," came to England, defeat Jose Mourinho and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for the first time in the Portuguese manager's entirety of being Chelsea boss.
However, that was not meant to be as one of the softest penalties in a year of calamitous match officiating errors cost another squad deserved points. Ramires went to the deck in the 94th minute as soon as he was touched and Howard Webb awarded the Blues a chance to escape with a point in a match where they had been out played, and robbed the visitors a famous win and eventually can claim was partially responsible for Clark's dismissal.
Now the tables are turned and the Baggies have a new boss and are fighting relegation while the Blues are top of the table in what is a match where the home side deserves three points after their past match with the visitors.
West Brom are without Stephane Sessegnon, Jonas Olsson and Nicolas Anelka and will look to young loan signing Thievy and 25-year-old former Everton striker Victor Anichebe.
Chelsea are only missing long term injured Marco van Ginkel and veteran John Terry with Fernando Torres likely to return to the starting eleven and a few changes to be made but one that will not is the inclusion of Eden Hazard as the young Belgian is becoming a World Class player in front of all the fans of the Premier League this season.
West Brom XI: Foster: Jones, McAuley, Dawson, Ridgewell; Mulumbu, Brunt; Tievy, Morrison, Berahino; Anichebe.
Chelsea XI: Cech: Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta; Lampard, Ramires; Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard; Torres.
