USA v Germany: Predicted lineups
In one of the most anticipated matches in United States World Cup history, the Red, White and Blue take on one of the World Cup favorites in Germany.
With both nation's tied on four points at the top of the Group of Death (Group G) there is everything to gain from a draw or win for either side and potentially all to lose for whomever failed to take points.
The two nations still currently have the best chances of going through. Germany will top the table on goal difference even with a draw, while the USA would still have a two goal advantage over Ghana with a draw.
However, if Ghana Wins by two or more and the USA lose, Ghana will again get the best of them for the third straight year despite the USA having defeated Ghana in their opening match.
Portugal gave themselves a life line when they put a dagger in the hearts of US soccer fans around the world with a last second equalizer on Sunday. If the Portuguese win they will have to have at least a five point swing to go through and currently qualification is in the hands of both the US and Germany if they take it.
The USA will have to recover from their mental shock of failing to complete an amazing come back victory over Portugal having scored twice in the second half to erase an early Nani opener.
Germany were surprised by Ghana and succumbed to a late come from behind draw thanks to veteran striker Miroslav Klose coming off the bench and they will be looking to secure their knockout stage presence with aplomb against the USA.
Jurgen Klinsmann will not want to fall to his fellow Germans and is expected to field the same hard working US side that should have finished off Portugal, knowing a draw is all that is needed but looking for another famous result to win the group.
Jozy Altidore remains back in contention but is likely to once again start from the bench, Matt Besler will still be a worry after having looked to pull his hamstring against Portugal but narrowly escaping injury. Jerome Boateng is the only miss for Germany as the Bayern Munich defender is sidelined.
