Situation in Egypt postpones Nelly Kareem’s drama
Egyptian actress Nelly Kareem has revealed that her new television drama “That” (Self) has been postponed. Nelly was to enter the Ramadan Marathon of television dramas this year, but the current unstable situation in Egypt has forced the drama makers to postpone the drama until a later time.
According to the London based Elaph, Nelly revealed that the events in the drama are very similar to the events currently taking place in Egypt and it is very suitable to be released in this period. The drama revolves around events that took place in Egypt in 1952, and the only alterations that need to be made are minor ones to the script.
Nelly stated that in the current time, there are no upcoming projects for her since the entertainment world is currently going through a freeze due to the situation in Egypt with the overthrowing of former President Husni Mubarak.
Nelly denied rumors that she had left Egypt during the Revolution of January 25 that overthrew the government of Mubarak. She added that during the protests that broke out she did not make any public comments regarding the situation merely due to the fact that she does not like to involve herself in politics.
