In its continuous strive to ensure the sustainability and viability of its noble initiative, TAKREEM Arab Achievement Awards hosted its first advisory board meeting at the American University of Beirut to discuss this year’s nomination and selection process. The advisory board members are the technical body of Takreem and act as ambassadors to this initiative.
The 2011 advisory board is formed of prominent personalities from Lebanon, the region and beyond, namely Mrs. Sandra Abou Nader - Lebanon; Mr. Georges Edward Asseily - Lebanon; Dr. Vincent Martin Battle - United States of America; Mr. Fred Boustani - Lebanon, Dr. Nabil Dajani - Lebanon; Ms. Nada Doumani - Jordan and Lebanon; Dr. Sami Moubayed - Syria; Mrs. Mona Jarudi - Lebanon; Mrs. Maha Kaddoura - Lebanon; Ms. Seema Al Langawi - Kingdom of Bahrain; Dr. Mona Makram Ebeid - Egypt; Mrs. Asma Siddiq Al Mutawa - United Arab Emirates; Mrs. Rana Nadim Minzalje - United Arab Emirates; Dr. Hussein Al Muhsen - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Professor Nasser Rabbat - Syria and United States of America; Ms. Rana Shanawani -Syria; Mr. Philippe Skaff - Lebanon; Mr. Abdulrahman Tarabzouni -Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Mrs. Lana Ghawi Zananiri - Jordan; and Mrs. Sylviane Zehil - Lebanon.
The selection process is a very tactical phase and the advisory board members have to carefully define the procedure in order for the selection committee to retain the best candidates. Following a long deliberation process, the Advisory Board members referred respective candidates for each category and suggested names for the selection committee and for the international Jury members. Once the bylaws of the selection process are set, the selection committee will be able to thoroughly review the profiles of the candidates in order to choose the finalists for the international Jury. Consequently the international jury will assess the finalists’ profiles and select the Arab Achievement Awards winners. Being the backbone of this initiative, the advisory board members also discussed the guidelines of Takreem throughout all related fields. The need of establishing the guidelines was created due to the expansion of Takreem‘s initiative.
“The Takreem Arab Achievement Award team is thrilled and privileged to be blessed with such a refined and honorable advisory board; each member is an extension of Takreem’s family” commented Ricardo Karam, Chairman of Olive Branch founder of Takreem, and to add: “The workshop concluded successfully and the board members managed to set all the regulations and guidelines needed for the implementation of Takreem’s next steps. We are looking forward to another successful year and will soon be announcing the location of the final awards ceremony that will take place in April 2011”.
The advisory board members who are the ambassadors of Takreem in their own societies are engaged in reflecting the vision of this great Arab Achievement Award, and in incorporating its mission in the daily lives of the people they encounter.
