TEDxRamallah Inaugural Event set to take Palestinian “Ideas worth Spreading” Around the World
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. TEDx means an independently organized event. This time it will be in Ramallah - Palestine. Jazarah takes us through the creation of TED and gives us details on this specific event taking place on the 16th of April.
"A diverse range of inspirational and thought-provoking speakers are set to participate in the first TEDxRamallah.
TEDxRamallah showcases inspiring stories of Palestine and aims to educate by providing a platform for people to share their ideas in any field, whether science, education, literature, technology, art or design to contribute to the positive perception of Palestine. It is with that ambition that the TEDxRamallah team is working beyond the scope of the event to share these stories through Palestine Stories, www.palestinestories.com."

Saudi Jeans has an interesting conversation with a friend of hers that is against protesting. The friend even describes those who protest as "ungrateful to their country".
Saudi Jeans replies:
"We are not subjects; we are citizens. And when the government does what it should be doing (like building schools and hospitals), it is by no means doing us a favor, because this is their job and duty. And it is our right as citizens of a country that enjoys great resources to get a good education, proper health care, and high living standards. More importantly, it is our right to live in dignity, be free to speak our minds, and have a say in how our country is run."

The American Jewish Committee vs the Palestinian perspective.
The movie 'Miral' tells the story of an orphaned Palestinian girl in the wake of the Arab-Israel war in 1948.
"The movie follows her journey [Hind al Husseini] as a young woman torn between the First Intifada of her people and the belief that education, not conflict should be the road to peace."
Now the twist lies in the fact that this movie which has premiered in the UN General Assembly Hall (USA) puts Israel in a tight spot with regards to war crimes, it is even worse because the film maker is an American Jew.
