Lebanon at the London Olympics

For the Saudi Olympic contingent at London, it looks all male at first, but straggling at the rear are those much buzzed (and even maligned as prostitutes) first females, flanked by men. Men lead, women follow! A scan of Arab world entries looks at Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt: false hopes or renewed national pride?

Playing sports has nothing to do with sex,so why are they labeled prostitutes? Woman have just as much to give as men,by limiting what they can do, Saudi Arabia is losing opportunities to have the great minds these woman have contribute to their society and make it better. Basically, Saudi Arabia is saying that women hold little value in their country and are good for nothing but cooking, cleaning, and giving birth.

Men are the ones that will be criticized for there ideas in Saudi. I realize that they believe that these beliefs are from the Koran but if you really read and study the Koran it is men that make some of these laws, ideas, and tradition. The women athletes are not prostitutes just like not all women singers in other middle eastern countries are prostitutes. Women are not second class citizens. In order to debase women and control them men and even other women will try to suppress their ideas, call them names, and in some countries kill the women. I wonder if the women participating in the sports from Saudi will have to ask for sanctuary from Saudi. Some women are not treated well and can even be killed for defying the ideas of men or their families. I know that there are women that are treated very well in Saudi and that the women sometimes have everything. The women that are treated well by there family and husbands are not the ones I am talking about. It s the women that are not treated well or respected. I hope these women, participating in the Olympics, have good families in Saudi.
