Libya rebels loot and storm Colonel Gaddafi's Tripoli compound

Hundreds of rebels surged through the dictator's compound this afternoon, tearing down an iconic statue and raising flags. These scenes as jubilant Libyans clambered over Gaddafi's fist crushing a U.S. plane were reminiscent of Baghdad 's Saddam statue and palace lootings.
