US man admits he is 'Syrian gay girl' blogger

The 40-year-old American man, who recently confessed to be the person behind "A Gay Girl in Damascus" blog, has reportedly created another fake persona. Tom MacMaster, who is living in Scotland, is believed to have created another fake identity- once again an Arab woman, in order to defend himself online.

I got really worried when I first read about the abduction of Syrian blogger Amina Omran Aref in Damascus last Monday. For the sake of the writer, who I hope is somewhere safe and sound, I hope Amina is an invention.

Unlike the gay blogger hoax in Syria, Razan Ghazzawi has really been arrested. She was taken on the Syrian-Jordanian border. Friends, bloggers and human rights activists come to her defense.
