When basketball and football collide with religion: a ban on veils and vests

When sports federations ban women's dress, you'd hope it was in the name of aero-dynamics. FIFA and the international basketball federation have come down on devout girls' dress, including or rather excluding, veil and 'vests'.
The Flimsy Ban on Hijabs (and T-shirts)
"I am commencing this post with a yawn.
A long, lock-jaw inducing soporific-soaked expulsion of weariness.
For this:
FIFA bans Jordanian women soccer players for wearing the hijab
A ban by world soccer body FIFA on Muslim women wearing Islamic headdress is taking its toll on the performance of not only Iran but also Jordan."

Early Observations on Post-Mubarak Egypt
It will take (uncancerous) guts to break the stalemate between people and military:
"Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak’s resignation, through a mix of popular revolt and military intercession, sheds light on the ongoing domestic and international challenges to democratization. "
"Mubarak’s exit on February 11 then opened a still-ongoing negotiation between military leaders and the civilian masses. The long-term politics of post-Mubarak Egypt remain to be determined, but so far there is as much continuity as change."

152 Facebook Friends Tattoo
"YouTube user susyj87 recently had her 152 Facebook friends tattooed to her arm
It took a painful four months for her to get these pictures tattooed on her skin.
She probably shouldn't join Twitter!"
(See fine print or caveat before you head to the tattoo parlor just yet 'armed' with your friend-list)

How the rich are destroying the economy (and society, and culture, and the environment, and, and, and...)
Organized labor gets rebellious. Is that not an oxymoronic concept?
"Organized labor needs to bring masses of people in the street all over the country in order to get attention and pressure the government to respond to these demands."
