The winners of the Sports & Skills Challenge 2011, held at SEGA Republic in association with Princess Haya Initiative for the Development of Health, Physical Education & School Sports, were awarded with medals and the winning schools championship trophies.
The awards were presented by Milton D’Souza, Head of Operations at SEGA Republic Dubai, and Ahmad Abdul-Rahman, Project Manager of the Princess Haya Initiative for the Development of Health, Physical Education & School Sports.
SEGA Republic is the largest of its kind indoor theme park attraction in the Middle East, located at The Dubai Mall and managed by Emaar Retail LLC. The championship received strong response from the schools, with more than 250 students from educational institutions all over Dubai taking part in the event.
The championship covered various sporting activities at SEGA Republic including Rock Climbing, NBA Hoops, NFL, Virtual Table Tennis, the bobsledding based Storm-G and the skateboarding based ride, Half Pipe Canyon.
In the girls challenge, Al Ebdaa School was overall winner in Under 10 years old category, and Al Azbaa School was the runners up. Al Alfiya School won in the Under 12 years category with Gharnada School as runner-up, and in Under 15 years category the winner was Al Khansaa School and Al Wasel School was the runner-up.
In the boys challenge, Al Saidia won in the Under 12 years and Under 15 years categories. The runners up were Sultan Al Owais School in the Under 12 years and Mohamed Bin Rashid School in the Under 15 years.
The prize sponsors include Hamley’s, California Pizza Kitchen, McDonalds UAE and RAGE Action Sports.
SEGA Republic has been developed by Emaar Retail LLC in partnership with SEGA Corporation, Japan’s leading indoor theme park developer. It features five themed zones – Wild Adventure, Speed Zone, Cyberpop Zone, Sports Zone and Redemption Zone.
