Al-Manhal signs research syndication agreement with the Scientific Research Support Fund
Al-Manhal, the world's first Arabic full-text searchable electronic content platform, recently signed an agreement with the Scientific Research Support Fund, of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to distribute 17 Jordanian scientific journals issued under the fund’s umbrella. The journals will serve to enrich Al-Manhal’s ever-expanding database of full-text content published by the Arab world's leading research institutions and publishing houses.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Nasri J. Rabadi, General Director of the SRSF, and Mr. Mohamad Al Baghdadi, CEO of Al-Manhal. Mr. Bashir Al Nasser, Al Manhal’s General Manager, together with Mr. Yazan Al Sheikh of the SRSF, were also present at the signing.
“Al-Manhal’s prime objective is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and valuable ideas, which is critical for the progress of research and publishing in the Arab world,” commented the company’s CEO Mohamad Al Baghdadi. “It is with great honor that we sign this agreement, which enables us to add some of the most authoritative scientific journals from the leading research authorities in the Kingdom. This partnership with such an esteemed authority in scientific research and higher education is instrumental in the realization of our mission of becoming the leading electronic publisher of full-text searchable databases of the most authoritative scholarly, professional and peer-reviewed documents from the Arab World.
Al-Manhal is a joint venture between the management of TechKnowledge, the Middle East’s leading electronic library consultancy, and Wolters Kluwer (aka Ovid), a global publisher and provider of academic and professional electronic information. Al-Manhal’s full-text electronic platform was created specifically to enable academics, researchers and scientists to have access to the output of the Arab world’s leading research institutions and publishing houses. The platform combines the portability and user-friendliness of PDF file formats with the search-ability and utility of the world’s most intelligent electronic research platforms. The company’s databases utilize key technologies specifically designed for libraries, publishers and independent researchers, including advanced search, digital rights management, social networking integration, and others, making it one of the most versatile and powerful content-sharing platforms in the world.
Al Manhal, the world’s first Arabic full-text database provider, is the result of 20 years electronic publishing experience of Mohamad Al-Baghdadi. He co-founded and managed international sales for ebrary, the leading ebook technology company.
Through his global and regional electronic publishing experience, he saw a critical need for research and professional content from the Arab world to be accessible throughout the region and the world. He recognized that while there is a growing emphasis on education and research in the region, there is a lack of cost-effective and reliable method for publishing and distributing the output of that research. In turn research without the corresponding publishing and distribution has minimal impact, and is an absolute waste of the region’s intellectual assets, research activities and budgets.
