Barwa unveils ambitious plans at Baraha City

Qatar’s leading listed real estate company, Barwa Real Estate, has announced that it is launching a vast new project in Doha today to be known as Baraha Motor City. The QR 2 billion project covering almost 2 million square metres of land to be provided by the government, will offer motorists every conceivable automotive service in one location.  Designed as a modern functional destination, Baraha Motor City will create a self-contained integrated community to attract motorists seeking a broad range of automotive related services.

Seen as another milestone for Barwa in serving the community, Baraha Motor City will provide the ultimate automotive solution.  The mega project will be added to Barwa’s sizeable portfolio of developments in Qatar – from housing to retail, from fitness centres to hospitals and schools, from hospitality to offices and financial business centres. 

Ibrahim Fakhroo, Director of Real Estate Investments Qatar, commented: “In collaboration with the government and in keeping with Qatar’s 2030 vision, Barwa is creating a new commercial and social amenity in the shape of a hub for the motor industry. With over 10,000 motor cars added to Doha’s roads each month, the project has been driven by the need to offer Doha’s increasing number of motorists a dedicated centre for all their automotive needs.” 

Planned on a vast scale, Baraha Motor City will provide the industry with a destination for anyone wishing to purchase private or commercial vehicles , vehicle-related products and to facilitate auxiliary car related activities and the needs of consumers.

The main hub of the city will provide retail and merchandising areas, commercial offices for trading, insurance and logistics, car showrooms and light food and beverage outlets. It will be the place where people working in and visiting the area will be able to socialise, eat, conduct meetings and shop for cars or related motoring services. 

In addition, there will be an area for car auctions, both private and public, and for workshops offering repairs and garage services as well as vehicle technical inspections.  Driving schools and test track zone are also planned along with heavy commercial vehicles and truck parking zones.

Workers at Baraha Motor City will be provided with community facilities such as a medical centre,  banking, a police station, petrol station, fire station and masjid. The administration zone will house Government offices such as a traffic department for car registrations and property and facilities management.

The project resonates with Barwa’s involvement in the sponsorship of world class motor sports, including the drag-racing team led by Sheikh Khaled Bin Hamad Al-Thani, whose team has enjoyed international acclaim and success for a number of years, and world class rally car champion, Nasser Al Attiyah, who recently won the Dakar Rally in Argentina and Chile, and is an Olympic medal winner. Barwa’s sponsorship of the BARWA Addax team based in Spain has also seen the team achieve great success in the past three years as one of the strongest and ambitious contenders in the new GP3 Series.
