Canon concludes photography workshops in UAE universities as part of "ICDL Summer Camps"

Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging solutions, has recently concluded a series of photography workshops in different universities across the UAE as part of the “ICDL Summer Camps” organised by the ICDL GCC Foundation, the governing body and the certification authority of the International Computer Driving License program (ICDL) in the GCC States and Iraq.
Canon conducted photography workshops at the Abu Dhabi Women and Men Colleges, Al Ain HCT Women’s College, Sharjah University, Abu Dhabi University Men’s and Women’s Campuses, and UAE University. Canon further revealed that it will also hold similar workshops in September at Kuwait University in Kuwait, New Horizons Doha in Qatar, and ADATI in Oman. Canon’s training sessions cover the basics of photography, including better composition, capture and printing.
“The workshops organised by Canon has gathered tremendous support, which underlines the growing interest of students in photography. Building on the success we have achieved here, we are now looking forward to organising similar workshops in other GCC countries where photography is likewise gaining popularity,” said Anurag Agrawal, Managing Director, Canon Middle East.
Jamil Ezzo, Director General of ICDL GCC Foundation, said: “For the second consecutive year, Canon has been an instrumental supporter to the ICDL Summer Camp initiative not only by providing valuable gifts to achieving students but also by taking part and adding a fun twist to our summer camp through the provision of workshops that introduced students to the world of imaging and digital photography technology. We express our appreciation to Canon for their continued support and look forward to collaborating on more projects in the future that benefit students and the greater community.”
As part of its commitment to the ICDL Summer Camps, Canon is also offering rewards to the students, giving away valuable gift items such as printers and cameras in recognition of the highest achievers among the ICDL candidates. Canon's support to the ICDL Summer Camps is in line with the company's corporate philosophy of ‘Kyosei,’ which envisions all people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future. Canon Middle East also believes that it is its responsibility to develop key skill sets of the region’s youth, who have a pivotal role to play in the progress and development of the region in future.
Thousands of students all over the region undergo extensive computer training in accordance with the globally recognised ICDL standard through the summer camps. The participants are expected to achieve the ICDL "Start" certification after passing official tests that not only affirm their competence in using computer and internet, but also showcase their resourcefulness, self confidence and responsibility.
