The annual Dubai Marina Yacht Club Dragon Boat Festival on December 10, 2010, promises another edition of festive cheer highlighted by sportsmanship, team spirit and folk rituals that are over 20 centuries old.

The thrilling, adrenaline-driven water sport, Dragon Boating combines strategy, technique, and positive team spirit in a festive environment. Join the merriment, as Dragon Boats decked up in customary Chinese dragon heads and tails, race to the rhythmic beats of conventional drums.

The sport puts together 20 team members on one decorated oar powered boat. Physically and mentally challenging, the dragon boat racing requires a paddler's synchronized precision, and is a perfect team building activity.

The Dragon Boat race will be held from 8am to 6pm along the Dubai Marina Canal, in front of the Dubai Marina Yacht Club, with over 400 participants in 20 teams expected to take part.

Mr. Phil Blake, Senior Operations Manager of the Dubai Marina Yacht Club said: "Dubai Marina Yacht Club is committed to hosting a variety of activities that bring the boating community together. The carnival-like Dragon Boat Festival will entertain participants and spectators, and will be a captivating spectacle that will also appeal to tourists to the city."

Registration for the Dragon Boat Festival is now open for corporates, educational institutions including universities and schools, and community groups across the UAE. Corporate and Social teams can register for AED 10,000 per team; School / University teams can register at AED 2,000 per team, while individual entry is AED 500 per person.

Team registration encompasses two dedicated training sessions of one hour each with an International Boat Coach, Dragon Boat supplies and equipment, Festival entry and participation for up to 20 team members per boat, and 20 Dragon Boat Party tickets. Potential participants can submit their completed forms by fax to 04 3944018 or by e-mail to: info@sirenconsulting.com.
