The DMA organized a workshop about the Municipal Spatial Solutions Infrastructure Project

As a part of series of workshops, the Strategic Planning & Performance Management Office organized a workshop about the work and functions of the property & GIS Division in the Land & Property Management Sector. The workshop covered the activities and functions of the Property & GIS Division and was attended by his Excellency Mr. Jasem Al Darmaki and a large number of employees in different divisions and sections in the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA).
The workshop was started by Mr. Ahmed Awad Al Mazrooei the Deputy Manager of the Property & GIS Division in the DMA who gave a general explanation about the GIS Division, its tasks and activities, which aimed at unifying the Spatial Data policies and programs among the Department of Municipal Affairs and the Emirate’s 3 Municipalities, Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain City & The Western Region.
The Municipal Spatial Solutions Infrastructure Project (MSSI) which was established in 2008 in order to unify the policies and strategies in the field of Municipal Spatial Data among the DMA and the Emirate’s 3 Municipalities was presented at the workshop and according to Mr. Al Mazrooei, the GIS Division has achieved 94% of the project and enabled the DMA to accomplish the unification of Municipal Spatial Data Infrastructure in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and to establish a Base Map defining the municipal borders in the Emirate and containing all spatial data in one unified system.
H.E Jasem Al Darmaki the Land & Property Management Sector emphasized the importance of the Base Map saying it has all spatial data infrastructure in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in a safe and secure manner and in one unified system which has been conducted in cooperation with the Emirate’s Municipalities and in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Center. H.E Mr. Al Darmaki added that the Base Map provides all needed spatial and geographic data to governmental entities and infrastructure developers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Ms. Badriyah Al Shehhi, the manager of the MSSI project had explained the functions and specifications of the project and the related data base which is connected with the geographic locations on the ground and which supports the planning and development process in different areas in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
