DP World sponsors Rashid Summer Camp for 3rd consecutive year

Reaffirming its commitment towards the development of young Emirati citizens, DP World, UAE Region announced today (June 19) its support of the annual Rashid Summer Camp taking place in Dubai from June 20 to July 20.

The month-long camp, organised by the Hobbies Club in Al Aweer, is expected to attract more than 500 students aged between five and 12 years.

Addressing a press conference, Adel Al Mulla, Deputy Director - HR, DP World, UAE Region, said that DP World, UAE Region will extend financial support to 25 students to participate in the Rashid Summer Camp 2011, in addition to arranging a fully-paid Umrah trip for a number of students.

DP World, UAE Region, a supporter of the camp for three years now, said that the students under its sponsorship would be chosen from among its employees’ children, and if the number fell short, then the Hobbies Club would nominate external candidates.

Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said: “Initiatives such as the Rashid Summer Camp play an important role in shaping the character of our youngsters so they can grow up as responsible citizens. We believe the Camp helps the students learn teamwork and leadership skills that are so essential in today’s world. DP World, UAE Region is happy to be associated with this noble activity. We wish all the participants a wonderful learning experience at the Camp.

Aref Bin Ali Al Abbar, Chairman, Hobbies Club, said: “The Camp this year is organised under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It emphasises the importance of creating social awareness among our younger generations through sports, culture and education. We would like to extend our gratitude to all governmental and private organisations for their support and sponsorship of the Rashid Summer Camp, which is in its 15th edition, with special thanks to DP World, our strategic partner in this important project.”

The Rashid Summer Camp offers a range of extra-curricular activities to the participants and is designed to help them spend part of their summer vacation in a productive, stimulating environment, and provides the young participants with a place for meaningful interactions.

The activities include horse riding, shooting and swimming in addition to cultural and educational activities, including Quran recitation.
