A man, who was convicted of urinating on the street after drinking alcohol, will be deported from the UAE.
The Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi upheld earlier rulings by lower courts that handed down a one-month jail sentence to the man after he was found guilty of illegally drinking alcohol and urinating in the public. The top court also ordered that the man be deported after serving his jail sentence.
Official court records stated that the man was caught by authorities after he was found peeing on the street in a northern emirate.
Investigations revealed that the man, who is Asian, was drunk when he peed.
Both the Court of First Instance and the appeal court sentenced the man to a month in jail after he was found guilty of the charges, but spared him from the deportation.
The public prosecution challenged the sentence in UAE's top court stressing that people convicted of such crimes have to be deported from the country according to Article 121 of the Penal Code.
