A man in Beirut is latest to go a little too far trying to "catch 'em all" with the new Pokémon Go app.
According to Shasha News, a young man was arrested for filming near a General Security building in the museum district, with clearly posted "no cameras" signs.
The man had been wandering around the premise and holding his phone up, eliciting suspicion from the police.
While Pokémon got him in trouble - it also cleared his name!
Because Pokémon Go uses "augmented reality" - it places the images of the game over a real-time map of the player's surrounding areas - the pictures on his phone proved that there were pokémon in the area. None of the images on his phone contained sensitive information about the government building.
Shasha News reported that the police officer in charge of the investigation found the situation very humorous and asked, "what is a pokémon doing at a police station... applying for a passport?"
The man was cleared of charges and advised to pay attention to his surroundings while playing the game.
