Libyan rebels have been celebrating after they breached Muammar Gaddafi's compound in Tripoli.
However, as celebratory gunfire is heard in the capital the hunt for the ousted Libyan leader is still on.
Libyan UN envoy Ibrahim Dabbashi said the Bab al-Aziziya compound is now fully in the hands of opposition fighters and that the country will be liberated within 72 hours.
A column of black smoke rose over the site as dozens of heavily armed rebels, along with some unarmed civilians, entered the complex cheering.
A rebel tore a poster of Gaddafi while others tried to pull down a statue of a hand crushing a fighter jet.
The Pentagon believe that the 69-year-old former dictator is still in Libya.
