People should not joke on social media about being part of extremist groups as it can lead to legal ramifications, Dubai Police said.
Dubai Police’s Al Ameen service warned people against “irresponsible behaviour” on social media by those who jokingly send content that can threaten the country’s security. For example, it explained, joking about being part of a certain group to scare a friend can land people in legal trouble.
Police said such “thoughtless behaviour” can have legal consequences.
The service, that enables people to confidentially contact the police round the clock, also warned people against revealing any personal information, even a name or age, to unknown callers, especially those calling from outside the country, to avoid getting scammed or blackmailed.
If one gets such calls, or any suspicious calls, they should immediately call Al Ameen services.
People should also not divulge any personal information or respond to unkown people on social media, to avoid faling prey to fraudsters.
