ALBAWABA A woman was arrested after attempting to secure a loan at a bank in Bangu, Rio de Janeiro, using a deceased man's identity. Bank staff grew suspicious when the woman, identified as Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, brought the man, Paulo Roberto Braga, 68, in a wheelchair to the bank and tried to coerce him into signing documents.

Staff members filmed the incident and alerted authorities. Paramedics confirmed Braga had passed away several hours prior to the incident. Nunes claimed to be Braga's niece and caregiver.

Law enforcement is investigating the relationship between Nunes and Braga, as well as the possibility of accomplices involved in organized fraud.

In the video footage, Nunes is seen instructing Braga to sign documents and holding his head upright. She urged him to sign, despite his obvious lack of response. Bank staff expressed concern for Braga's well-being, noting his pale appearance.

Nunes's arrest underscores the severity of the alleged fraud, with authorities emphasizing the need to protect against such deceptive practices.
