Egyptian film star Hanan Tork has agreed to play the starring role in the play Raghba Tahta Shagaret Al Derdar based on the American Nobel prize winner Eugene O'Neill’s play Desire Under the Elms, according to the London-based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

O'Neill’s text was treated by Safaa Al Toukhi to be directed by Abeer Lutfi and produced by Al Ghad group for experimental theater. However, the new play will be Tork’s debut in the plays of the Public Sector Theater.

“The fame of the play text, the good treatment and the international faculties of the theater group as well as the proficient actors such as Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra, are factors which make me accept the experience,” the actress told the daily.

“But, Tork added, I delayed my final agreement till I finished filming the two movies, Sahar Al Layala (stay awake at nights) along with Muna Zaki and Sharif Munir, and Haramiyya Fi KG2 (thieves in KG2) along with Karim Abdel Aziz.” – Albawaba.com
