Ahmad Zaki passes away

After a long journey of suffering from lung cancer, prominent Egyptian actor Ahmad Zaki passed away today Sunday March 27, 2005 at the age of 57.  The actor had been in a coma for eight days and finally his body gave up and his heart stopped beating.

 

A medical source at Dar Al Foad Hospital, where the was staying, had previously denied that the actor’s doctors will take him off life support even if his coma lasts for ever. It was revealed that the actor is being treated as if he will wake from his coma any minute and return to his normal life. Zaki had been in ICU at Dar al-Fuad Hospital, where doctors speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed that he had died .

 

Before going into a coma earlier this month, Zaki had received calls from President Husni Mubarak, Egypt's most prominent celebrities and cultural figures had been constantly checking on him weeks before his death.
Zaki died before accomplishing one of his dreams - the making of the film “Halim” about the life of the legendary Egyptian singer Abdul Halim Hafiz.
