ALBAWABA - Despite their Palestinian heritage, both Hadid sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid are being targeted as part of the #blockout2024 which demands the block of celebrities who have not been vocal about the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.

This might've come as people didn't see that the Hadid sisters were actively posting about the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza and the demand for a ceasefire such as celebrities like Macklemore, SZA, Mark Ruffalo, and many more.

#blockout2024: Why are Bella and Gigi Hadid included in the boycott list?

The #blockout2024 list included nearly a hundred celebrities as many started losing followers across their official social media accounts including Kim Kardashian, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and many more as well.

According to users, Gigi Hadid hasn't been very vocal as her last post on Instagram about Palestine and Gaza was in November last year. By the time of writing this article, it's May 2024 which could've been why pro-Palestine users added her to the list.

Take in mind that Blockout 2024's official Instagram account was shut down recently by Meta triggering further outrage on social media among users.

The trend was triggered after several videos surfaced across social media platforms of users shaming celebrities for attending the Met Gala while Palestinians are dying in Gaza calling it "insensitive" and referring to the world we live in as "The Hunger Games".

On the other hand, Bella Hadid who's been quite vocal about Palestine during and before Oct. 7, 2023, was also added to the list as some saw that she's not been "vocal enough" about the matter while others took to social media outlets like X (formerly known as Twitter) and defended the Palestinian-American model saying that nobody has a right to judge a Palestinian woman on how to share what's been happening to her country.

By the time of writing this article, Bella has shared videos from AJ+ on her Instagram story which talks about Rafah and Gaza.
