Cairo Song Fest to Honor Safwan Bahlawan

The Organizing Committee of the eighth Cairo International Song Festival which will be held between August 20-28 is planning to honor Syrian singer Safwan Bahlawan who has secured a wide fame after he has sung cadences for the late renowned Egyptian musician and singer Mohammed Abdel Wahab. 

The Syrian singer has recently performed many concerts at the Egyptian Opera House and participated in honoring singer Suad Mohammed, composer Fuad Hilmi, Hussein al Sayyed and Abdel Azim Mohammed. 

In addition to Bahlawan, a number of Arab male and female singers including Angham are expected to participate in the opening ceremony of Cairo Song Festival along with international troupes, which will perform art shows. 

A number of concerts will be performed on the sidelines of the festival by a number of Arab singers. 

Earlier the festival management specified the first song prize value at 25, 000 Egyptian pounds in the Arab contest. As for the first prize in the foreign contest, it has been specified at seven thousand dollars. An agreement was reached to increase the room for the audience to participate in the festival and its activities through performing a number of public concerts and contests. 

Last Year, the festival donated the Iraqi singer Kathem al Saher the festival’s shield in appreciation for his contributions to the previous sessions. It also honored Sabah, Omar Khairat, Mohammed Tharwat, Karem Mahmoud, Abdel Salam Amin and Wardah --
