The Egyptian Opera House held Thursday night a national and an artistic celebration which raised around two million dollars assigned to offer urgent medical and humanitarian aid for the Palestinians.

The celebration in which a huge number of Arab and Egyptian artists participated, comes as part of the efforts made on both public and official levels to provide the support for the Palestinians who are facing the worst attacks by the Israeli occupation.

The participating artists who donated their stipend, performed new national songs for the occasion. Among those artists were singers Eman al Bahar Darwish, Latifa, Assala Nassri, Angham, Mohammed Tharwat, Ali al Haggar and Hani Shaker.

The two-hour concert included a performance by the Cairo Opera's Orchestra, Arab Music Orchestra and Cairo Opera's Chorus. It also included poems about the Palestinian Intifada by Egyptian poet Abdel Rahman al Abnoudi along with his song al Quds Hatergaa’ Lina (Jerusalem will Return to Us) which was performed by more than 100 artists.

The celebration was held under the patronage of the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's wife Suzan Mubarak. It was attended by a number of Egyptian ministers and Arab and foreigner ambassadors –
