Bad news for Elton John's fans, as the British singer has had to postpone his upcoming Dubai concert from 15 December to 20 January.

The superstar will still perform at the Autism Rocks Arena on the new date.

“After medical examination and advise of his doctor, [Elton John] decided to postpone some of the remainder tour dates to avoid escalating his current flu to full exhaust and fatigue rendering him unable to perform the shows to full capacity. It is therefore not an easy decision to make but in order to give the Middle Eastern fans the Dubai show they deserve,” said a statement from organiser 117 Live.

If you've already purchased a ticket to see the "Candle in the Wind" singer, you can use that same ticket to attend the 20 Jan concert. However, those wanting refunds will get it in full from their respective points of purchase.

“I am so looking forward to performing in Dubai with my band and want to assure my fans that giving me time to recover to my full strength and stamina will ensure the best and most memorable show on January 20th. Please accept my apologies and come enjoy the show next month,” John added in the statement.

Elton is a regular in the UAE. He played in the country in 2012 at Abu Dhabi's du Arena, and in 2010 he played a double bill with Carlos Santana at the Dubai World Cup.
