The Egyptian young actress Hanan Tork is “embarking on a new cinema adventure,” according to her, through debuting in a short narrative film.

The 20-minute film written by Zainab Aziz is entitled Asafeer al Gannah (paradise birds) and will be produced by the National Cinema Center.

Tork will begin shooting the new film after she wraps up shooting her scenes in the series Amira Min Abdin (princess from Abdeen) along with Samira Ahmed, Mohammed Riyadh and director Ahmed Saqer.

The film director Saad Hindawi told the London-based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat that he set June 20 as a date to begin shooting the film.

The new film is number 7 on the list of Hindawi’s short narrative films, the most prominent of which is the film Yawm al Ahad al Adi (the ordinary Sunday) which won many prizes at a number of local and international festivals.

“The film is similar to a stage monodrama that depends on one main hero whom all events are based on and which is being shot on board of a Nile boat, Cairo streets and on top of a building -- Albawaba.com
