Egyptian artist Ashraf Zaki, head of the Arts Theater House, announced that he will revitalize musical productions in Egypt.

Zaki has signed a contract with director Hassan Abdul Salam to direct a new musical written by Waleed Yousif, and starring Egyptian actors Ahmad Fishawi and Hanan Turk.

Should Hanan turn down her nomination, Egyptian actress Nelly Kareem will be nominated instead.

The musical will appear in theaters around Egypt, and will represent Egypt in different theatrical festivals.

Hanan has agreed to accept the leading role in the new movie “Mathaher Hub” alongside Fathi Abdul Wahab and Khaled Abu Najja. In the film, she will play the role of a critically ill girl who discovers the amount of love her family and friends feel for her after learning the severity of her condition.

On a similar note, Hanan is also in the process of preparing for her upcoming film about the life of Palestinian martyr Wafa’ Al Idreesi. The film will be directed by Mohammad Abu Yousef and is written by Mohammad Salmawi.

Hanan was fascinated by the script because it reflects the humanistic aspect of the martyr’s life, and her thought processes in coming to the decision to sacrifice her life for the Palestinian cause.

Hanan is studying Wafa’s life, in order to know every detail of her character.

Hanan also viewed a short documentary film about Wafa that was screened at a film festival in France two years ago.

The location for filming has yet to be decided.
