Poet Jamal Bakhit’s complaint against renowned actor Mohammed Heneidi could cost the latter 40,000 pounds, according to the Egyptian daily Al Jumhuriyyah.

Bakhit’s complaint to the Authors and Composers Association accuses Heneidi of borrowing from one of his songs in his new film Jaana Al Bayan Attali (We Have Received the Following Communiqué), directed by Said Hamed.

The poet managed to obtain the text of the song from Heneidi’s film, and presented it to the association along with one of his own songs with similar words and rhythm.

Heneidi is reportedly thinking of omitting the song, which cost 40,000 pounds to include in the film – Albawaba.com
