Under the patronage of her royal highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, head of the Higher Council of Family Affairs and wife of the ruler of the Emirate of Sharika UAE, prominent Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi will hold a grand performance.
Majida’s concert is the first musical performance to ever be held in Sharika since its establishment.
According to the London based Elaph, the event will be organized by the Higher Council of Family Affairs under the title “Bahibak Ya Lebanon” (I Love You Lebanon) and all the proceeds will go directly to the Lebanese people, specifically those that were affected by the recent Lebanese Israeli war.
The event will take place on November 9, 2006, at Al Sharika University stadium.
On a different note, ‘I’tazalt Al Gharam’ (I Resigned from Love) was the latest song by Majida. The song is written by Nizar Frances and composed by Lebanese singer Milhim Barakat. Majida considers the song as a new step in her career.
During an interview with Reuters news agency, Majida expressed confidence in the success of her album, stating that the songs have "true value," stressing that it is different from the trend of albums released today.
Composers such as Milhim Barakat, Elli Shuwairi, Abd Al Rab Idrees, Marwan Khouri, Nizar Frances, and Jan Marie Riashi contributed to a number of the songs, along with song writers Nizar Qabani, Marwan Khoury, and Sid Aqel.
Reuters described Majida as one of the true Arab music icons. She was the first Arab singer to receive a platinum record award.
