Majida Al Roumi hopes she will be the first to release an exclusive Al Hashimi Qarbawi track
SIx years after his death, legendary Algerian song writer Al Hashimi Qarbawi, is at the centre of a musical battle between Lebanese diva Majida Al Roumi and Moroccan singer Latifa Raafat, who both want the rights to songs written and composed by the late folk musician.

MBC.net has reported that Roumi called the songwriter's widow, Shahira Al Qarbawi, and asked for the rights to two exclusive tracks - 'Whadani Ghareeb' (Alone and a Stranger) and 'Hello Hello'.

Raafat soon followed suit asking for more of Qarbawi's un-used songs.

Shahira says she was 'delighted' to hear from the popstars and hopes they will help to keep her husband's memory alive.

Having got the go-ahead from Shahira, the race is on to see who will be first to release an exclusive Qarbawi track.

Do you think the singers will do Qarbawi's tracks justice?
