The war in Syria is affecting its neighboring countries and their citizens in different ways. Lebanese singer Melhem Barakat has been negatively affected by the terrible events taking place and the way they're affecting his Syria-bordering country, Lebanon.

The singer expressed just how distraught he is by the chaotic conditions in Lebanon. Although Melhem previously said that he'd never immigrate from his homeland, he's currently thinking of moving away from Lebanon.

“I swore that I would never leave Lebanon, but I'm now thinking of leaving. I'm going to take the name that I've made for myself here and throw it in the garbage. They've made our lives a living hell,” Barakat said in an interview with Nadine Magazine.

The distressed singer continued: “It's taken me 50 years to make a name for myself in this country, and they still have no respect for us in the music industry. If we didn't perform in restaurants we would have died of starvation.”

Despite feeling emotional and edgy, Melhem wished Lebanon the best. “God bless Lebanon. I'm afraid that one day we'll wake up and find that everyone had left Lebanon. Everyone's immigrating as they're sick and tired of this country and its leaders,” said Barakat.
