Famous Egyptian singer and actress, Ruby opened up about her real name in a recent interview.

During the interview with Egyptian host, Mona El-Shazly, Ruby stated that at home, they call her Rania, which is her real name, and that the name 'Ruby' sparked was because of Egyptian film director Yousef Shaheen.

Ruby stated: '' When I was making the film with Yousef Shaheen ''Silence... We're Rolling'', which was before I started college or during my first year, I don't remember exactly, he used to love me very much and gave me nicknames,''

She continued by saying '' he told me that there are many Rania's in this artistic community just like Rania Yousef and Rania Fareed Shawki, so he wanted to call me Sahar but I refused.''

Mona shared her opinion on the name ''Sahar'' by saying that it is similar to ''Rania''  where Ruby actually agreed and said, '' maybe he wanted a nickname and no its not much of a difference but during the 70's and 80's generation, mainly 80's,  the names Rania, Sahar, Dalia and Dina were used most.''

She also added '' I told him I don't want to be called Sahar, so he came down to the conclusion of calling me Ruby.''

Mona claimed '' We know your songs, you became famous at a really young age, but, how come when we think about it, we don't know anything about you?''

She answered by saying '' I took my chance through modeling advertisements, I entered to become a model because I wanted money. However it never crossed my mind to become famous, I only worked to get money,''

The singer then said that her coworkers Yousef Shaheen and Mohammad Amin got her the roles for movies where she then became famous in a very short period of time, especially after putting her picture on a poster of the movie '' Silence..We're Rolling'' but her personally, she never wanted to get famous.

She added that she has always wanted to work as an employee just like her parents but her fame stopped her from becoming a lawyer.

The Egyptian singer ended up opening up about her family where she talked about how her grandfather stood by her side where she continued to talk about how he always wanted a son but God blessed him with 7 girls.

She ended the interview by saying that from her mother and aunts, she learned how to be more responsible and independent and especially after her dad passing away, she said that her mother became more independent and did not want to get married again because her two kids are more than enough.
