Shireen, Nancy and Nawal most popular in Kuwait

The list of best songs varies from one Arab country to the next, yet in Kuwait the “Marina FM” radio station is considered among the most popular among Kuwaiti listeners. The radio station which airs on frequency  ‘88.8’ made out a list of the best 88 songs that were most requested by its listeners for the year 2008.


  The Egyptian artist Shireen Abed Al Wahab and Emirati artist Hussein Al Jismi were among the first places despite the fact that they only released solo singles throughout the year. As for the famous Lebanese artists Nawal Al Zoghbi, Nancy Ajram and Elisa their names were mentioned more than once throughout the list.


According to the London daily Elaph, Nawal was among the first top ten where her song “Leh Mishta’alak” (Why I Miss You) was ranked ninth place. Nancy also was among the top ten best songs with her song “Meen Dah Eli Naseek” (Who Forgot You) in eighth place. Elisa’s song “Betmoon” (Can’t say no to you) was number eleventh on the list.


 Famous singers like Najwa Karam, Haifa Wahbe and Amr Diab were all absent from the list this year unlike the previous years, yet young artists like Tamer Hosni, Husam Habib, Muhammad Hamaqi, Rami Sabri and Haitham Shaker were among the most requested by the Kuwaiti fans.
