Following the success of the duo Samia Aqrio and Rashid Al Wali in her latest film, Women’s Cunning, Moroccan director Farida Balyazid has chosen the harmonious pair to star in her upcoming project Casablanca, according to the London-based Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
The two Moroccan artists played the starring roles in Balyazid’s film Kaid Al Nisaa (Women’s Cunning) which recorded a smash hit when it was screened domestically three years ago.
Other actors who will participate in the film include Younes Makri, Mohammed Al Razeen, Amal Ayyoush and Ahmed Paulan.
Balyazeed told the daily that she earlier chose Al Ragjol Allathi Yabki (Man Who Cries) as the title for her film, before she learned that another director had chosen this name. But then, she chose Casablanca, because all the film's events take place in this city.
The director will begin shooting her film during next January.
Balyazzed was among the jury members of the international film Ffestival held in Morocco between September 28-October 2. Her film Bab Al Samaa Maftouh (Sky Door Open) was screened at the festival as part of Moroccan Cinema Day which was dedicated to the topic “Women in the Moroccan Cinema” – Albawaba.com
