They may have had a star-studded wedding in beautiful Venice, and regularly jet around the world for premieres and parties.

But George Clooney has insisted he and wife Amal love nothing better than a night out at their local pub in England.

The 54-year-old actor revealed just how 'normal' his life is when he stopped by the Graham Norton Show for an interview this week.

In the interview, which airs on Friday night, the actor and reformed bachelor couldn't help gushing about Amal, the 37-year-old Lebanese-English human rights lawyer he married last September.

George revealed that the glamorous couple are hoping to spend most of their time in Amal's home country of England, once their house renovations in Berkshire are sorted out.

'We've bought a place in a wonderful little town called Sonning and we are re-doing the house so that we can live in it, which would be nice. We will move in in a couple of months,' the actor explained.

When Graham asked if he has a normal life there, the Monuments Men star was quick to quip, 'Yes, we do normal things – there's a bathroom and we use it!'

Their idea of a fun night out is mingling with their neighbours at their local.

'There's a great pub we go to. It's fantastic and we drink all kinds of pints of things,' says the star, adding that he's bought the pub a few bottles of his own brand Tequila to keep behind the bar.

While he and Amal are settling into life as husband and wife, their marriage didn't get off to the most romantic of starts.

George revealed he had to break the news to his new wife that they were interrupting their honeymoon to fly to Comic Con, so he could promote his new movie Tomorrowland.

'I got the call while on my honeymoon and was told it was really important that I fly in,' he explains.

'First I had to explain that to my wife which didn't play well. And then, the whole idea of spending part of your honeymoon with people dressed up like Captain Kirk and Star Wars' characters somehow wasn't easy to explain to my new bride. But, I showed up and it was actually fun.'

George is busy jetting around the world promoting the sci-fi movie from director Brad Bird, but has revealed that despite their busy schedules he and Amal have a pact to never spend more than a week apart.

While her husband does the promo rounds, Amal recently concluded her teaching term at Columbia in New York City and has resumed representing her high-profile clients, with the barrister flying to Belfast this month for her latest case.

The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One at 10:35pm on Friday.
