Ripley’s Believe It or Not! at Wafi

Next time you go shopping at Wafi, be prepared for some weird and wonderful sights. The Oud Metha mall has been taken over by exhibits from Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, the touring exhibition of everything weird, wonderful and wacky. Check out every single one of the exhibits (and make sure you get a stamp at each one) to enter Wafi’s special competition and you could end up visiting the original Ripley’s site in Orlando, Florida.

World-class Cricket Action

The UAE is proudly hosting the 14th edition of the Asia Cup- Cricket, with a number of key clashes taking place right here in Dubai at the stunning international stadium in Sports City. Join up to 25,000 lively fans at every match in the six nation tournament.

Making an Impression in Print

The fourth edition of Arab Print sees a focus on Lebanon’s contribution to the stylish art and craft of print-making. The 2018 edition at Meem Gallery in Al Quoz industrial area sees work from a variety of artists including Chafic Abboud, Etel Adnan, Huguette Caland, Halim Jurdak, Hussein Madi and Mohamed El Rawas. The carefully-curated works include pieces on loan from a private collection in London, and you can even brighten up your home by purchasing selected items.

The Shadow Box

What would we learn about each other if we knew we had limited time left alive? This is the premise of the emotionally-charged and compelling play, The Shadow Box, which follows three terminally-ill cancer patients and their families, living out their remaining days in cottages within the grounds of a hospital while being interviewed by a psychologist. Brought to the Alserkal Avenue stage by Dubai-based production house C1C, Chapter One Creates, the play is directed by Ian J. Halstead.

Never Mind The Opera

Old rockers never die...they just take to the stage at Dubai Opera. Proving the upmarket venue isn’t simply for arias, this weekend’s gig will bring a large helping of nostalgia to the stage. You’ll get to see former Stranglers’ frontman Hugh Cornwell sing along with former Pistols’ bass player Glen Matlock, drummer Chris Musto and 74-year-old guitar ace Chris Spedding, one of the most sought after sessions musicians who you’ve probably never heard of.

Time to Turn your Ears Eastward

Japanism is a music night like no other. Described as a cultural musical festival, you’re sure of an interesting night thanks to Heavenese, a gospel band that delivers a whole new sound, blending Japanese soul with gospel music. The 14-strong group combines modern instruments with traditional Japanese taiko drums and flutes. Zuiho Daiko is a traditional Japanese drum (taiko) ensemble, made up of five people with intellectual disabilities. They will be sure to get your feet tapping at this cool night.
