Yuri Mrakadi: an 'Evil Lebanese'

Published May 12th, 2003 - 02:00 GMT

Lebanese singer Yuri Mrakadi began looking into the script for a new Egyptian film, in which he is offered the role of an evil Lebanese man. Yuri was very interested in the role when he received it, despite not being offered the leading role, reported the London based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

Yuri has recently completed shooting the song "Barsim Al Baie" (I'm Planning to Sell) in the form of a music video to be released in the very near future. The song was written by Yuri himself and composed by Jan Mari Riashi. An Italian director was brought to Lebanon to supervise in the shooting of the clip around the suburbs of Lebanon.

Yuri along with Lebanese announcer Tony Baroudi along with Marianne Khalat, and Mario Baseel have come together in the play "Monologue" to give a satirical view of the current political conditions in Lebanon and the world. Each one will have approximately 25 minutes on stage to talk freely and without restrictions about all the corruption that he/she feel have clouded the region.

The idea of the play is taken from monologue plays commonly done on American theater stages most commonly performed by actors like Robin Williams, Eddy Murphy and many other well-known actors in the US. –Albawaba.com
