Etihad Airways staff members will be offered a full day of health advice and medical assistance at Etihad’s Training Academy at the airline’s first Wellness Day on Monday, April 18.

Wellness Day is intended to promote a positive work-life balance and to encourage staff to make the simple changes necessary for a healthy lifestyle.

Ray Gammell, Etihad’s Chief People and Performance Officer said: “First and foremost, our priority at Etihad is the wellbeing of our staff. We take this responsibility seriously and have invested significantly in professionally run health and fitness facilities and our state of the art medical centre to create a holistic health program."

“Wellness Day is a chance for staff to discuss any health issues or queries with the team of medical professionals and fitness experts from Etihad’s Fit 2 Fly gyms at our head quarters in Abu Dhabi."

Covering a wide range of medical and health issues, they will conduct individual assessments, including cholesterol checks, body mass index measurements and cardiovascular risk assessment tests, and offer exercise tips and information on body composition and nutrition, and discuss stress management. Staff from the Shaikh Khalifa Medical City will be on hand to carry out carbon monoxide tests and to provide advice and techniques on how to stop smoking.

From 24 to 28 April, a cancer screening and prevention clinic for female staff will be held at the Medical Centre offering breast and cervical cancer testing and a HPV vaccination program. The week-long program will also feature lectures and audio-visual presentations from experts in the field.

The airline offers a comprehensive and free range of state of the art health and fitness facilities at Etihad Plaza including a medical centre, fully equipped gymnasia, a large outdoor swimming pool, and squash courts.
