Prominent Egyptian actress Athar Al Hakim has withdrew from the leading role of the upcoming television drama series “Kanadeel Al Baher” after a dispute broke out between her and director Ahmad Khader. The dispute was over differences of opinions regarding the drama, which was written by author Ibrahim Abdul Majeed.
Athar has defended her position by stressing that she had agreed to the filming of the scenes on the condition that she takes over the revision of the script during its implementation, especially due to the fact that the director has no previous experience in acting. The revision Athar added includes studying the characters, the plot, and every small detail of the drama, which is a basic routine followed in producing a new drama.
Athar revealed that she had always taken on the responsibility of revising the scripts of all her previous dramas, causing her to go in shock when the director refused her request. The director stressed that the responsibility of revising the script is his in order to match the theme of the story. What added to Athar’s shock was the fact that the end result was a complete opposite and so she began to give different opinions regarding the script, which were all overlooked by the director.
The incident caused Athar’s fury to grow and so she decided to withdrawal from the drama stressing that she cannot work under such circumstances when she does not have a say in the drama she is working on.
Recently, Athar announced her marriage to journalist Yasser Kamal Khalil, who works for the Egyptian satellite television network. The wedding ceremony was held amongst a small group of family members and very close friends.
Athar’s latest television drama was "Frisca" under the direction of Majdi Ahmad. A major crisis had taken place between Egyptian belly dancer and actress Dina and Athar while shooting the scenes for “Frisca” over Dina’s dresses. To end the dispute, the dancer decided to seek a fashion consultant to change her entire wardrobe for the series.
