Prominent Egyptian director Yousif Shahin has written a new film, “Fawda” (Chaos), and is seeking a strong cast for the film, targeting new actors.

According to the London based weekly, Laha, the film tells the story of everyday life in Egypt through the eyes of a police officer, whose obstacles in his career begin to affect his personal life.

Shahin’s last film, “Alexandria New York,” was not as successful as his previous films, despite its anticipated release.

Director Khaled Yousif has convinced Yousif to make a guest appearance in his new film.  He will play the role of a director casting new talent.

The film, produced by ‘Al Patros,’ is scheduled for screening during the second Muslim holiday Eid Al Adha, and stars Egyptian actors Hani Salama, Hind Sabri, and Muna Shalabi.

Yousif has denied rumors that he is banned from appearing on all local and satellite Egyptian television channels. Yousif made controversial remarks while appearing as a guest on the program “Al Bait Baitak,” (The Home is Your Home), although the episode was never aired. The Egyptian Broadcasting Company decided to take action against him, although their final decision is unclear.
