Some Saudis are receiving Whatsapp messages saying their phones are being monitored by royal decree, Narmin Hussein of stopnews1.com reports. The images are also being widely circulated on social media.
It’s unclear exactly why the phones are being monitored, but many have been sharing images of the messages on Twitter.

Replies to the above tweet indicate that some believe such images to be fake, but plenty believe their validity.
If true, it marks the latest in a series of telecommunication developments in the Kingdom. The mobile network provider Zain recently ended the sale of unlimited internet bundles in Saudi, and in September, Saudi Arabia banned Line – a popular app used to make international calls.
