An Iranian nuclear physics scientist died on Tuesday in a remote-controlled bomb attack near his house in Tehran. According to Press TV, Dr. Massoud Ali-Mohammadi, a lecturer at the Tehran University and a staunch supporter of the Islamic Revolution, was killed in booby-trapped motorbike blast on Tuesday.
The explosion took place near the professor's home in Qeytariyeh neighborhood, in northern Tehran. Iran's police and security bodies launched an investigation into the "terrorist case" to identify those behind it, the report added.
On his part, Tehran's Prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi confirmed the assassination of the university lecturer and said that he taught neutron nuclear physics at the University of Tehran. "No suspect has been arrested yet," he told the Iranian Students News Agency. According to him, Ali-Mohammadi was killed when a motorbike parked near his car exploded.
Iran's Foreign Ministry said there are traces of US and Israeli involvement in the assassination of Ali-Mohammadi. "Primary investigations into the assassination revealed signs of the involvement of the Zionist regime, the US and their allies in Iran," spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said.
