Egyptian actor Ahmad Al Sakka denied circulating rumors that he boycotted the Cairo Film Festival in order to take part in the Dubai Film Festival. Both festivals were held at the end of the year 2010.
According to the internet website MBC.net, Ahmad was honored at the Dubai festival for his outstanding role in the film “Ibrahim Al Abiad” and won an award for Best Young Actor in the past 10 years. The award was presented to Ahmad by the production companies ‘Rotana’ and ‘Fox’.
Ahmad stated that the allegations against him are untrue and he would never boycott any event that is held in his own country. Rumors had it that Al Sakka preferred to attend the Dubai festival instead of the Cairo one. Ahmad stressed that he never received any formal invitation from the Cairo festival and had received one from the organizers of the Dubai festival.
