The Lebanese court of immediate affairs has turned down a lawsuit by Lebanese diva Fairouz’s lawyer against the makers of the television drama “Al Shahrourah” , a drama about the life of Lebanese legendary singer Sabah, demanding that the scenes that depict Fairouz be omitted.
Faiouz demanded that the drama be banned from airing due to the fact that she and her late husband, Assi Al Rahbani, are portrayed in a way that insults their history. Producer of the drama denied such allegations made by Fairous and stressed that the singer and her husband were only referred to by their names and were not part of the events of the drama.
The company Sabah and Brothers, which is the producing company of the drama, had released statements to the press stressing that neither Fairouz or her husband were insulted in the drama and they would never take such a step as trying to ruin the reputation of such great Lebanese figures.
The drama is currently being aired on a number of Arab satellite channels. It is written by Fida Al Shandaweeli and directed by Ahmad Shafeeq. Lebanese singer Carol Samah plays the leading role of Sabah.
