During the talent show “Ghani Ma’ Ghassan” (Sing with Ghassan), a fight broke out between the organizers and a father of one of the contestants that became physical with name calling. Lebanese singer Assi Hilani was held guest on the show and was caught in the middle of the disputes, but was miraculously saved.
According to the internet website MBC.net, the fight began when one of the contestants, As’ad Jafar, won second place instead of first and his father got on stage and attacked the presenter of the show, Ghassan Al Rahbani, and Assi. As’ad’s father threatened that he would kill Assi and Ghassan if they did not change the results, which he felt were unfair.
Ghassan stated that after the show ended, As’ad’s father and a number of other people accompanying him had forcefully came on stage and attacked him and attempted to attack Assi, who was on the judging committee. Ghassan added that Assi could have been severely injured if it wasn’t for security officials who came immediately after they were summoned to control the situation.
The program had been airing on the Lebanese satellite channel ‘New TV’ and contestant Sami Shamsi won first place.
