A number of Egyptian artists expressed their over joy at seeing their former ousted Egyptian President Husni Mubarak put to trial for killing protesters and corruption during his reign. Many saw the trial as a warning sign for any future president, who misuses his power and position.

Egyptian actress Tayseer Fahmi stated that it made her very happy to see Mubarak put to trial and loved hearing the presiding judge refer to him as “Defendant Mohammad Husni Mubarak”, which she considered as the right term for such a man, who had caused so much damage to Egyptians.

Tayseer considered having Mubarak behind bars will ease the minds of not only families of martyrs, who lost their lives during Egypt’s January 25 Revolution that brought Mubarak down, but also  ease 85 million Egyptians, who Mubarak (the murdered) had destroyed.

Tayseer said that Mubarak tried every scheme in the book to avoid being put on trial, but all attempts failed and the voices of the people forced him to be prosecuted for the inhumane crimes he committed.

Actor Ahmad Eid considered the trial as a positive step in the right direction and sets an example for all rulers to come. Ahmad stated that he anxiously awaits the second hearing, which is scheduled to take place on August 15, to see how matters will turn out.

Other stars considered the trial as an honorable event that will be documented in Egyptian history and talked about by generations to come. It was said that the trial symbolizes the essence of democracy where even the president is put on trial for crimes committed.

According to the internet website MBC.net, attempts were made to contact stars that had supported Mubarak and were against the revolution, like actress Ghada Abd Al Raziq, Hassan Yousif and Talat Zakaria to see their views regarding the trial. All stars said that they were asleep during the trial and did not watch its live coverage.
