Egyptian controversial director Enas Al Dughaidi has nominated young Egyptian actress Mina Shalabi for the leading role in her upcoming film “Al Samt” (Silence), which tackles the subject of sexual relationship out of wedlock.

The film is based on the novel “Al Samt” by author Hind Al Ziadi and the script is written by Rafeeq Al Saban. A few months ago when the film was presented to the Egyptian Censorship Committee it was rejected on the basis that it contained provocative and daring scenes that are considered inappropriate for the average viewer.

After the rejection, Enas filed an appeal to the Higher Cultural Council and as a result an approval was given for the film. The approval was given on the assumption that a number of modifications be made to the script and scenes.

Sources have revealed that after Egypt’s January 25 Revolution that overthrew the government of ousted Egyptian President Husni Mubarak, the film was passed by the Censorship committee without deleting any of the scenes.
